TaxAct for Claude

A remote MCP connector that gives Claude grounded, current-year tax information — so answers don't rely on the model's memory of tax law that changes every year.

What it is

Instead of relying on the model's memory of tax law, Claude calls TaxAct tools that return answers computed from verified, version-controlled tax data for the 2025 tax year (TY2025) — current brackets, deductions, deadlines, and Big-Beautiful-Bill (OBBB) provisions.

No account required. All tools are read-only and work anonymously.
No data stored. The server is stateless; it does not retain your questions or inputs.
Grounded, not guessed. Estimates and answers come from static data files, not model approximation.

How to connect

Add the connector in Claude using the server URL:

No sign-in or credentials are needed. Once connected, the tools below are available to Claude automatically; just ask a tax question in natural language.

What it can do

Estimate taxes	A federal (and optional state) refund or amount-owed estimate using 2025 brackets, the standard deduction (including the OBBB senior deduction), and the child tax credit.
Tax deadlines	Federal and state filing, extension, estimated-payment, and document-mailing deadlines for the current tax year, with a days-remaining countdown.
Explain a tax document	Box-by-box explanations of the W-2, the 1099 family, the 1098 family, 1095-A, and Schedule K-1, including which boxes matter most and where to enter them in TaxAct.
Ask a tax question	Answers grounded in a verified TY2025 knowledge base — OBBB provisions (no-tax-on-tips/overtime, car-loan interest deduction, SALT-cap increase, Trump Accounts), EITC, retirement contribution limits, and more.
Tax document checklist	A personalized list of documents to gather before filing, based on your income sources, deductions, and life events.
Find an interview topic	Where to enter a specific item (by topic, form number, or keyword) in the TaxAct filing interview, across individual and business returns.
Compare filing costs	An itemized price breakdown for DIY filing, Xpert Assist, and Xpert Full Service, for consumer and business returns.

Accuracy and limitations

Tax estimates are approximate and cover W-2/wage income with the standard deduction. They do not account for itemized deductions, self-employment tax, capital gains, or every credit. File with TaxAct for an exact figure.
Tax information reflects TY2025 (returns filed in 2026) and is reviewed periodically. Prices are subject to change.
The tools provide general tax information and educational explanations, not personalized tax advice.
